Ground Breakers Oakville

Ground Breakers Oakville is apart of Oakvillegreen Conservation Association's Full Circle Tree Initiative program! Details about Ground Breakers and the Full Circle Tree Initiatives can now be found at www.oakvillegreen.org

Visit Oakvillegreen's website!

Ground Breakers is a group of volunteers dedicated to increase the health and size of our urban forest through the planting of native trees and shrubs.

Since the group's founding in the spring of 2004, Ground Breakers has planted more than 4,700 native trees and bushes and three wildflower gardens at sites all around Oakville. We have helped to restore natural areas, beautify new developments and install an entirely native landscape at Halton's new Emergency Shelter.

More projects are in the works. Come plant with us! Join Ground Breakers or invite us to help spruce up a neglected corner in your part of Oakville.

Be a part of something good.

Our Mission

Ground Breakers' mission is to enhance Oakville's public spaces, beautify the community and engage citizens in creating a healthy, natural environment.

How You Can Help

Ground Breakers is a volunteer-run organization. There are no membership fees. Ground Breakers holds 6 to 10 plantings of native trees and plants each year. Each planting takes only 2 hours and everything needed for planting is provided. The plantings are done by community volunteers. All ages are welcome. Volunteers can come out for as few or as many of the plantings as they choose. Volunteers are also welcome to contact Liz Benneian to find out other ways they can help.
